Using Film to Inspire Change

Wosi Kaeyo believes storytelling has the power to transform communities.

As producer of the nationally acclaimed films Plesman 1 and Plesman 2, she has used the creative arts to shine a light on some of Papua New Guinea’s most pressing social issues, including youth unemployment, tribal conflict, women’s empowerment and community development.

Working with Jona Film Production, Wosi has played a central role in coordinating complex productions, managing teams and supporting emerging actors and creatives while ensuring each project delivers meaningful social messages. Through her leadership, film has become more than entertainment—it has become a platform for education, reflection and positive change.

Plesman 1 encouraged young people to explore opportunities in agriculture, tourism and entrepreneurship, promoting self-reliance and local development. Building on that success, Plesman 2 explores themes of peace, unity and nation-building, highlighting the important role women play in creating prosperous communities.

Beyond the impact of the films themselves, Wosi has helped create opportunities within Papua New Guinea’s growing creative industry. Her work has provided employment and training opportunities for actors, technical crews and community members involved in production.

As a woman leading major projects in a traditionally challenging industry, Wosi is helping redefine what is possible. Through creativity, determination and vision, she continues to inspire audiences and demonstrate the power of storytelling to shape a better future.
