Young Achiever: Getta Kambar

Breaking New Ground and Inspiring the Next Generation

At an age when many are just beginning their professional journey, Getta Kambar is already making an extraordinary impact across engineering, sport and community development.

A graduate of Papua New Guinea University of Technology, Getta became the first woman to achieve the highest qualification in Construction Management from the institution’s 2024 graduating class. Her academic success, combined with her leadership and community service, has earned her national recognition including the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Citizenship and Leadership and the CPL Young Woman of the Year Award.

Professionally, Getta works as a Contract Administrator, where she supports the delivery of complex construction projects with a strong focus on governance, compliance and accountability. Yet her influence extends well beyond the workplace.

An accomplished community leader, Getta has used sport as a platform for empowerment and inclusion through her role with Bernice Football Club. By creating opportunities for young women to participate in football and leadership roles, she has helped challenge stereotypes and foster greater confidence among emerging female leaders.

She has also demonstrated a strong commitment to education, leading literacy initiatives through partnerships with organisations such as the Kokoda Track Foundation and supporting access to learning resources for children in rural communities.

Whether on a construction site, a football field or in the classroom, Getta consistently demonstrates integrity, determination and a passion for helping others succeed. Her achievements highlight the immense potential of young leaders to create positive change and inspire future generations across Papua New Guinea.
